Walking 2h30 br> Circuit 5
Departure from the port of Camoël midway between Damgan and Pénestin in southern Morbihan
Circuit 5: From one port to another
Duration: 2 hours and 30 minutes
Number of kilometers: 10 kms
This trail runs along the Vilaine to the port of Roche Bernard. It is necessary to envisage a vehicle for the return or, in season, to address the company of the yellow stars who can propose the return by boat.
You must first walk along the harbor to the car park, before crossing the Cordeau road. You will then only have to follow the path established more or less along the Vilaine. This one will lead you to the goal by a succession of jump-valleys.
Indeed, the banks of the river present here a relief more and more chahuté which will make you pass of the plateau where are established the villages (Drézet Isle, Kernelo, the Rosquet, ...) with the funds of the valleys formerly occupied by brackish meadows (before the construction of the ArzaI dam, the tides went back beyond Redon), but now abandoned to the wasteland.
Along the way, you meet the water factory Drézet, which supplies the Guérande peninsula and half of Morbihan. You see on the rock in front of the island, the few remains of the castle of the same name. Facing the latter, an old slip recently cleared, but unfortunately damaged, suggests an old crossing of the Vilaine by the Roman road between Vannes and Nantes.
Facing the Sterile, and if the frondaísons are not too thick, you distinguish a large old building at the edge of the water: it is the old grant that controlled the access to the port of Roche-Bernard.
The site of Rah Coët and his ship that sinks deeply into the land deserves a stop before attacking the last slope overlooking the port of Roche Bernard. Before diving to this one, take the time to discover the site of this old Viking place, with its old houses which line up on the rock of Rulcard. At the bottom, three generations of bridge close the landscape.
