Walking 3h br> Circuit 7
Departure from Camoel marina between Roche Bernard and Damgan in southern Morbihan
Tour 7: Between town and countryside
Duration: 3 hours
Number of kilometers: 11 kms
Placed between the sea and the river, Camoël offers preserved and authentic countryside landscapes. This loop takes you to discover this diverse nature.
Facing the ocean, Camoël offers, because of its geographical location sheltered from the prevailing winds of South-West, a harbor where fishing and pleasure boats find peace and safety.
From October to May, a flotilla of civel animates the basin each night of their two-colored lights, carrying to Spain and even in Asia, the name of Camoël. Indeed, it is here that the glass eel is fished for the pleasure of the palates and especially for the alvinage.
In the summer, the many boaters find in the moorings of the port, easy access to the ocean and the ascent of the Vilaine to Redon.
Leaving the port, you will cross the village of Vieille Roche and admire its houses of character.
After passing the village, you will pass the manor of Kergal, one of the many large houses that dot the town.
Then you will see the chapel Notre Dame de la Salette, then join again the edges of Vilaine.
This river has its source in Juvigné in Mayenne. It is 225 kilometers long. Since 1970, the Arzal dam has closed the estuary. It was built in order to dry 10,000 hectares of marshes, create a lake (the current marina), a water reserve and install the Drézen plant.
Throughout this circuit. you will cross many hamlets whose names begin with "ker". This prefect from the old Breton "caer" means fortified village, defended by ditches, embankments and palisades. The Breton medium "cer" and the modern Breton "ker" signify village, hamlet and are often followed by a person's name.
