SAINT-LYPHARD, Between Sky and Marsh
It is very real, this church, surmounted by a pink steeple which can be accessed to contemplate La Brière 360°
It's a real trip. At first, we turn in the spiral to a first stop to admire the vaults of the church and the cock proud and quiet, which enjoyed hours of glory at the top of the bell tower. A last flight of stairs and ... there, wow, we touch the sky! The well-deserved surprise is revealed by this point of view that embraces the region, from the bridge of Saint-Nazaire to the collegiate church of Guérande.
On the edge of the Marsh of Grande-Brière, Saint-Lyphard is proud of its 800 thatched cottages but can also boast of having been inhabited by man since the earliest antiquity, in view of its Gallo-Roman remains and its megaliths. At the place called "The Split Stone", still resonates the legend of the bloodthirsty monster in the mouth of fire that terrorized the inhabitants until the hermit of Saint-Lyphard decimated him.
