Walking 2h15 Circuit 4

Departure point of the Bile on the commune of Pénestin in the south Morbihan

Tour 4: From the Bay to the Marsh

Duration of the trip: 2 hours 15

Number of kilometers: 9 kms

New route that takes you from the seafront to the inland, through the various types of landscapes that characterize the town.

From your starting point, you can take a unique view of the islands. On your right, you see Aloe Island, which was probably called "Island to the West". Indeed, the current name finds no other justi fi cation. Only its location - south-west of the town - can explain this toponym, distorted over time by oral language. In front of you, it is the island Bacchus, accessible at low tide at high coefficients. Closer to the coast is the Beschet.

This sector is dedicated to mussel farming and is home to one of the largest and oldest myticole farms in the municipality. One is struck by the great regularity of the implantation of the piles of molds (the bouchots).

By the beach at low tide or along the coastal road at high tide, you retrieve the coastal path that allows you to reach the beach Palandrin highly popular windsurfers. You will have, at this place, a superb point of view on the bay of Pont-Mahé. In the distance, your eyes go up to the cliffs of Pen-Be, to Mesquer and the tip of Piriac.

Then, you go along the village of Kerandré, still today fortress marked by the agricultural activity.

After a detour by the open path on the "common marsh", you cross Brécean, hamlet typical of the town, with a beautiful renovated well located in front of the farm.

The trail then takes you to Pradun, whose name comes from "priden" in ancient Breton meaning meadow or meadow.

You reach the pretty village of Kervraud, consisting of beautiful stone houses, many of which are being renovated. You can also see two recently renovated wells, representative of the local architecture of the small heritage. Indeed, most wells of Pénestin have a semicircular shape.

From there, resume your journey, with a panorama that widens towards the Atlantic Ocean and join the seaside to return to your starting point.

«Toujours très heureux pour cette 3 ème venue aux Embruns. Accueil chaleureux et attentif tout au long du séjour, nous avons même prolongé d'une nuit, merci à Annie-Paule et Paolo sans oublier leurs enfants. Nous sommes sûrs de revenir car nous n'avons pas encore tout découvert de cette belle région. Philippe et Agnès »
